About Mellow's Oddities
Honour the beauty of the natural world
At Mellows Oddities,
my mission is to honour the beauty of the natural world through responsible preservation and thoughtful artistry. I strive to create unique pieces that celebrate life, inspire curiosity, and foster a deeper appreciation for the creatures we share our planet with.
Through sustainable sourcing, ethical practices, and a commitment to conservation, I aim to ensure that every creation contributes positively, supporting both global preservation efforts and local wildlife initiatives.
Above all, my goal is to connect people with nature in a meaningful way while helping protect and sustain it for future generations.
I have a deep passion for what I do. While I operate as a business, at its core it’s a lifelong love for the beautiful world around us, and I am so thankful to be able to share that with so many people.
I pride myself on my work. I have been practicing the beauty of entomology for multiple years now. Every specimen you see has been spread, pinned, and mounted by me with love and the utmost care.
Insect Specimens, Taxidermy & Bones Info
Our insects come from sustainable conservation farms across the globe, where practices protect both the species and their habitats. By choosing a specimen from us, you’re not only acquiring a unique piece of natural art, you’re also contributing to a variety of supportive programs.
Our bones, other assorted taxidermy, and curios are primarily sourced in Australia, either locally by myself or through other small businesses, often sourced via farms, natural deaths, and remains of the meat industry. No animals are ever harmed for the purpose of preservation or artwork.
Conservation farms employ local farmers who maintain native plant species and natural environments, ensuring a healthy food source for caterpillars and preventing habitat loss from logging or agricultural clearing. As a result, butterflies raised in these farms have a remarkable survival rate of up to 95% from egg to adult, compared to just 5% in the wild.
In addition to supporting global conservation, I proudly donate to local initiatives such as wildlife care and rehabilitation programs like Micro Bats of Melbourne, and local shelters such as Blossoms Rescue, helping protect and preserve Australia’s native fauna, as well as finding loving homes for domesticated animals.

Q: Insect Specimen Quality?
Since our specimens are from nature, they might not be perfect. Some may have missing antennae, chipped wings, or other little flaws. I always photograph them in natural sunlight, so you’ll see any imperfections clearly. But honestly, it’s these unique details that make each specimen special and beautiful in its own way.
