Yes, you can change the frame color, but this option is available for certain displays only. Some of my frames are either unique or vintage, and in those cases, I may not be able to swap out the color.

For more information, feel free to reach out, or check the details in the product listing to see if a frame color change is possible for the specific display you're interested in.

Insect Specimen Quality

Since our specimens are from nature, they might not be perfect. Some may have missing antennae, chipped wings, or other little flaws. I always photograph them in natural sunlight, so you’ll see any imperfections clearly. But honestly, it’s these unique details that make each specimen special and beautiful in its own way.

Insect Specimen Ethics

I believe that a responsible and sustainable supplier is one who raises and breeds their insects, rather than capturing or killing them. This helps maintain population numbers and promotes biodiversity.

I source the majority of our stock from small insect farms around the world. On these farms, butterfly pairs mate and lay eggs, and the larvae feed on specific plants, pupate, and then the cycle continues. Adult butterflies have a short lifespan and die soon after mating. They are then collected for museums, collectors, schools, the Department of Agriculture, and other institutions.

Many of these butterflies are also released to help boost wild populations, as butterflies lay hundreds of eggs. In the wild, butterflies face a tough journey, with only about 5% surviving from egg to adulthood. Female butterflies can lay between 100 and 500 eggs in their lifetime. To help preserve nature’s delicate balance, some of these specimens are returned to the wild for natural reproduction, while others are kept for breeding and sent to museums for educational and scientific purposes. A portion of these specimens also reaches businesses like mine, allowing us to preserve and display these beautiful creatures in collections.

I will also source specimens locally from members of the community as well as vintage collections that i like to fix up

Bones & Other Sourcing

All animal-related items, such as bones, preserved specimens, and occasional taxidermy, are sourced from ethical and responsible methods. These items are collected from roadkill, products of the meat industry, or vintage/second-hand collections. No animals are killed for the purpose of profit. Each item has been responsibly sourced by myself or other small hobbyists in Australia who prioritize sustainability and respect for animals
